The Economic & Financial Literacy Institute (EFLI) of Clever Brains Solutions serves as an educational platform aiming at connecting individuals and small business owners with a foundation in Economics, Finance, and Entrepreneurship.

Over the years as an economics instructor, coach, and tutor, I have been surprised by the inability of some students to comprehend economics courses and understand basic concepts, let alone grasp the meaning behind some established economic concepts. The reason behind these difficulties is that many students are disconnected from Economics. They find it hard to mentally relate to it and yet, they face economic decisions every day in their lives. We all do.

The main objective of this literacy program is to make the learner “economically” and “financially” literate and empower them through knowledge too often reserved to an educated elite.

The EFLI is offering a bridge to economic education, a way to connect learners to the world of Economics through group discussions, videos, and tutorials from renowned professionals, as well as a complete review of economics fundamentals. It offers economic literacy classes for individuals of all ages and entrepreneurial literacy classes for small business owners interested in opening, running, or growing their businesses. As an economics-educated individual, I believe that having a basic economic education is crucial for better decisions, at the personal and business level. Every individual, including children, should be able to understand the basic aspects of the economy as a whole and also the factors that influence the economy of their local communities.

As an immigrant, I have noticed that minorities and especially women and children of migrants are not as exposed to economic literacy as other women and non-minority children and/or children of educated parents. They don’t always understand the concepts of choices, as well as the behavioral approach of economics, the basics of entrepreneurship, and how to soundly implement entrepreneurship ideas. Current economic issues discussed in public debate that are directly relevant to them are a mystery to many.

Clever Brains Solutions work with educators, schools, local businesses, and parents to educate children and adults on economic forces that will impact their future. Empowering children, small business owners, and local communities is the goal of our Economic and Financial Literacy Institute as well as bridging the gap of knowledge for immigrant communities.

We cannot inspire our children and communities without first equipping them with the basic economic skills needed to climb the ladder of economic empowerment. We believe in economic education for economic empowerment.

Clever Brains Solutions works with the econ lowdown program of the Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis to offer up-to-date materials from experts across the U.S. and across the globe.

Together, let’s work toward economically savvy individuals and children.
